Copyright and Open Access Policy

The Intercontinental Research Review (IRR) is founded on the principle that the advancement of knowledge thrives through transparency, accessibility, and the equitable sharing of ideas. To support this vision, IRR adopts a comprehensive copyright and open access policy to safeguard author rights while ensuring the global dissemination of research.

1. Copyright Ownership

All authors publishing with IRR retain the full copyright of their work. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors grant IRR a non-exclusive, irrevocable license to publish, archive, and distribute the work electronically through our platform. This ensures that authors maintain control over the use and future distribution of their work, including its reuse in future scholarly publications, teaching, or institutional repositories.

2. Licensing and Access

IRR publishes all articles under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license allows others to:
- Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material

However, these uses must be for non-commercial purposes only, and appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s) and IRR. A link to the license must also be provided:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/

3. Author Rights and Self-Archiving

Authors are encouraged to archive both pre-print and post-print versions of their work in personal, institutional, or subject-based repositories. These practices align with global trends in open access and support broader discoverability of research. Authors may:
- Include their IRR publications in academic portfolios or grant applications
- Share their work through academic networking sites like ResearchGate or Academia.edu (within the terms of the CC license)
- Reuse figures, tables, and excerpts in future works, as long as proper attribution is maintained

4. Fair Use and Attribution

Users of IRR content must provide accurate citation of the original work, including:
- Author name(s)
- Title of the work
- Name of the journal (Intercontinental Research Review)
- Publication date
- Link to the original work

Failure to provide proper attribution or any attempt to use the work for commercial purposes without permission constitutes a violation of the terms under which the material is published.

5. Commercial Use and Permissions

Any use of IRR content for commercial purposes—such as reproduction in commercial publications, advertising, resale, or monetized educational materials—requires express written permission from both the author(s) and the editorial office of IRR. Requests can be directed to research@pic.edu.ph.

6. Plagiarism and Intellectual Property Protection

IRR takes academic integrity seriously. All submissions undergo plagiarism screening, and published works are monitored to detect unauthorized use or reproduction. In cases of copyright infringement or violation of IRR’s open access terms, the journal reserves the right to take legal and administrative actions in line with international copyright law and ethical research practices.

By publishing with IRR, authors contribute to a scholarly community that values both academic freedom and responsible knowledge sharing.
